A message from current Vice President Samantha Cherry
Time Commitment: 20 hours per week on average. It varies in this position because sometimes you will not have that much to do, but other weeks there are a million things to do! This time of year it a lot busier for me as recruitment and transition are coming up, so there is much more planning. The only thing that people don’t realize is that sending and receiving emails and having meetings separate from scheduled ones can take up a lot of time. When you oversee a large part of the organization your time commitment can change a lot every week. Passion and dedication are the key to keeping up with the changing demands.
The best part about being Vice President Internal: The internal part of the organization and the human resource aspect has taught me a lot. I have loved working with people and having the ability to be involved with events, academics and finance. Every week is different and gives you more opportunities to get involved within the University and on a national level. I have been fortunate enough to attend conferences on behalf of the CMESA and they have given me so much insight into the Canadian business environment as well as to network with other student leaders across Canada. It is a lot of responsibility being a Vice President but it prepares you well for the future.
The best part about being on the CMESA: I have now been a part of the CMESA for 2 years and I have loved every minute of it. It is has given me so many opportunities with my career and I have met some amazing people. I have now gained the experience I need for the real world and had a blast while doing it!
